SC Medicare Supplement Plan N

SC Medicare Supplement Plan N was introduced in June of 2010 by the Insurance Commissioners. It has a much lower premium than the F Plan. The Part A benefits are all the same as Plan F in that you no copays or deductibles. You pay the calendar year Part B deductible currently $140 and a small doctors office visit copay of up to $20. You must also pay an ER copay of $50. The ER copay is waived if you are admitted to the hospital. The rest of the 20% is covered. Premiums for a 65 year old from out top companies range from $65 to $76 per month depending on zip code and gender.

Medicare Supplement Plans Are Standardized Policy Forms

Medicare supplemental insurance plans are standardized. This means all like policy forms have to have the same benefits regardless of insurance company. All F plans are the same. All G plans are the same. All N plans are the same. It doesn't matter which company sells the plan. They all have the same benefits.

There can be a big difference in the premiums from company to company. This is mainly because each insurance company has premiums that are based on the claims of the people in the plan in that state. Plans with higher claims have to charge higher premiums.
